My husband and I received this for Christmas. I never thought I would become addicted to gaming in my mid 50s, but this game has done it!! We love it!! The spearfishing is our favorite and it's such a challenge to build up your chains (number of hits in a row) - it helps your score and brings an additonal challenge. We take our time and search around for the treasure (which adds extra points) and the flashing gold fish - more extra points! Oh, yes, and sometimes we actually go shark hunting before hunting our "required" fish - killing the sharks add up to super points! (Alligators in the Nuke section).Bowfishing is just as much fun.... action packed and full of laughs when you're playing multiplayer competition. Just don't get mad if your husband insists on shooting at the same fish you're targeting!!The rod fishing is challenging and getting the feel of the rod takes some time. I think we will order the fishing rod accessory for our Wii - maybe it would make it easier. Rod fishing is fun - picking your lure - and watching the fish underwater as it stalks then take the lure. Landing the fish is harder than you think. We play for awhile - until we get frustrated - then go to bow and spear fishing. For the money - this game can't be beat. Would recommend it to young and old. Just make sure you take your time to fully explore this game. There's so much more than what meets the eye!

Lacks Realistic Rod movement- No sharks to catch
If you were thinking that this game allows you to fish for the sharks and larger fish mentioned in the description, that is not exactly true. You can shoot at them in spearfishing mode but your rod fishing is limited to a river area and the game lacks the level of rod control that I have enjoyed in other games. It tells you to move the remote left or right to hook the fish and has a tension meter, but you must obey the commands it flashes on the screen or lose the fish. This is very different from games that allow you to tease the bait along the bottom and move the rod back and forth to entice the fish. Until a fish is on the line you have no control over the cast other than placement and reeling it in. This "cast and reel" style fishing is just not that exciting. The spearfishing is fun and you can play with a friend. It is not that different form other simple "multi-player" shooting games. Some annoying things are that you have to shoot only certain fish and sometimes you can't find that last fish anywhere. The bowfishing is okay and is similar to spearfishing above the water. You are again limited to the river area. The most annoying thing about the game is the loud music and voice-over. I like fishing games because they offer a good combination of relaxing water sounds and fishing strategy. This lacks both.

Pretty good game!
The game is easy to jump right into - no need to learn a bunch of new controls. The three options for type of fishing give it a good mix - regular pole/line fishing, bowfishing, and underwater spearfishing. The latter two are GREAT with the 'perfect shot' gun. If you play a long time it can get a little repetitive, but there are different places to go and types of fish to catch/shoot.Multiplayer is fun on the shooting ones - up to 4 players can compete to shoot the fish on screen (and score points for a winner). The 'Teen' rating is only for some minor 'blood' when a fish is shot - no big deal IMO.It's a solid game that I play pretty often, and is fun to mix in when people come over.

Addictive but frustrating
I bought this game based on the reviews of the Bowhunting and Spearfishing and am glad to have it..I had a lot of trouble hitting anything at first but then I started using my Wii Zapper for the Bow and Spear..Lots easier to hit the target..Now my only complaint it that some stages take too long to complete..You drive the boat or swim around for a long time trying to find the last few assigned fish..During the spearfishing the Sharks and Gators are easy enough to deal with but the Pirhana are impossible to escape..You can never shoot them all and finally ending up going backwards in points..I have not even tried the fishing..This is a fun game and well worth the low price..

Great variety of fish and challenges!
After checking online from the selection of fishing games, I noticed the graphics and variety this game offered. It was just as I had hoped. There are plenty of places to fish and so many types of fish to catch. Each type of fish gave a unique fight and difficulty. Plus this game has additional challenges of rod and spear fishing which didn't disappoint at all. Although, I've only had the game for just over a week I see myself playing this game regularly for a long time! And for the price, you can't ask for a better deal!I read from other reviews and I chose not to get a fish pole simulator. It works great with just the remote and nun-chuck.

Shimamo Xtreme Fishing
This game tops all other fishing games that I have bought. If you want a game that you can play by yourself or with others(up to 4) then this is the game to buy. And with others you will do alot of laughing too. The controls are easy to use. Not alot of buttons to remember to use. I like that. I can't wait till the next time we play again. Oh yeah and you not only fish with a rod but with a bow and spear too. I really like the bow and spear. And you do the bow in a airplane sometimes. Really fun.

Shimano Extremes
I find Shimano Extreme Fishing for to be addictive. What this game offers over other fishing games is the bow fishing and spearfishing modes. The levels are challenging and having to locate specific species of fish requires some strategy. The only drawback is the pole fishing mode doesn't have the sophistication or lure and equipment selection that the Rapala fishing game has. Overall, I am very pleased and would recommend it to fishing game fans everywhere.

Profisherman wannabe LOVES this game!!
My husband has been fishing since he was 8 years old, it has been his lifelong obsession. So, this game had big shoes to fill. He hasn't ever been much for video games, but he is ADDICTED to this game! Money was very well spent!! The graphics on this game are great it is challenging enough for my husband and I, but easy enough for my 4year old daughter to be able to play too! We are very satisfied, the best fishing game we have found!
