Amazing photos!

This book was a gift from my wife. Initially, I wanted it because I wanted to support our friend and naturalist, Walter. (We had the honor and privilege to see Galapagos in 2014 - with Walter's observant eye pointing out minute details along the way.)What I received when this book arrived was an immediate return to the islands and creatures we love! The intimacy Walter has captured with this collection is truly a work of art! For those who have had the opportunity to explore here, you will feel as though you have been transported back to these magical islands. For those who dream of one day swimming with Galapagos penguins or watching Blue-Footed Boobies soaring above, this is the book for you! It is lovingly displayed on our coffee table, where I can grab it at any moment and once again frolic on the shores of San Cristobal island. Thank you, Walter, for this incredible gift. This book, with its photos by Walter Perez, superbly captures the unique creatures and geological features of the Galapagos. I have already bought three copies.

What better way of documenting the story of the unique birds and animals of these fascinating islands than through the beautiful photographs and descriptions in this book. It has something for everyone one: for those who have been to the Galapagos, it is a treasure trove of happy recollections; for those who have yet to visit, a planning guide and surely a call to get on and schedule that trip! And for all lovers of nature, a heartening testimony to what is possible in sustaining the wildlife population with the concerted efforts of the people who live and work in, and love the islands, like author Walter Perez, and the ethical organisations like Lindblad Expeditions who over the years have been constantly respectful and mindful of minimising their environmental impact even as they bring in enthusiastic visitors.

I went to the Galapagos Islands this year and ordered this book to remind myself of the wonder and awe I felt on that trip. One of the authors, Walter Perez, was one of our naturalist guides and I found him to be incredibly knowledgable and respectful of the Islands and the unique wildlife of the Galapagos Islands. This knowledge and respect are on full display in this book; the whole book is full of stunning shots of whole array of creatures, big and small, land and sea. Anyone who has been to the islands or thinking about going would love this book. It would also make a fabulous gift. Well done Walter Perez and Michael Weinberg!!

This book is a masterpiece of photography and natural history background information. The species and location labels are perfect for basic knowledge and for more in-depth study of the biodiversity of Galapagos. The attention to detail within the photography adds a deep dimension to the biodiversity intricacies as well. This is the perfect book for someone who has traveled to Galapagos, has dreamed of it, or is interested in delving deeper into a study of species found there. I am a teacher who recently completed an expedition to Galapagos and this book is perfect to help retell the study I completed, further my own study, and use with my students.

Walter's photographs show us why the Galapagos are referred to as Islas de Encantadas. Not only are the islands enchanted, Once you visit them you will forever be enchanted by their beauty. Walter's photos give the viewer real insight into the behavior and majesty of the wildlife found in the Galapagos. This is a book for anyone who has had the amazing experience of having spent time there or dreaming of visiting a slice of paradise. If you have had the pleasure of meeting Walter, it is also a reminder of his unique personality and sense of humor. You can't go wrong with this purchase.
