Works great in rough salt water, good search depth, highly recommended!
The photo shows the results from my first day treasure hunting with the Pulse Dive Nokta. I've been beach and near-shore underwater treasure hunting for many years with one of the popular brands of pulse-induction "full size" detectors with underwater earphones, etc. Those units are great in still waters or beach areas, but hard to operate underwater in ocean swimming areas with surf and strong currents, and that's where this little machine fits right in. No headphones to get knocked off or wires to tangle, and easy to maneuver in rough conditions. Reaches in under ledges and holes that would be difficult for traditional machines. This is not a toy. The build is very solid, and the depth is pretty respectable on a ring or coin underwater even in the presence of a few "hot" rocks which cause interference. Comes with a skid plate on the coil which is a necessity on the rocky or rubble/sand bottoms where I hunt. It is a USB rechargeable unit and you remove the waterproof cap to recharge, so get some silicone grease and take really good care of your o-rings. The unit comes with spare set.I'd just like to say to everyone who might be considering buying the Nokta but is wondering if the higher cost versus other offerings here on Amazon is worth it: as an experienced offshore treasure hunter, I couldn't be more pleased with my decision. The photo included really is from my first hunt with the Nokta which was about 3 hrs. in the ocean at 2' to 6' depth with surge and current. The scrap value of that one gold ring way more than covered my purchase cost. Happy hunting!

Doesn’t detect gold very well unless it’s within an inch of the coil
Will detect sterling silver great but it has trouble with higher quality gold. I’ve seen videos online about people finding gold rings and pendants with this product so maybe it’s the quality of the gold? For what this metal detector is though, it’s a fantastic buy for 200 bucks. It feels great in your hand, and I like that you don’t have to buy 9v batteries as it is rechargeable and comes with a cable to charge it. Giving 4 stars only because of its trouble with detecting gold on land/water. But for 200 bucks? It’s worth it. Even the high dollar underwater metal detectors have trouble detecting the super fine gold chains/pendants so I’m not going to hold it against this product. It was worth the purchase to me.Update August 18th: updating to 5 stars. This metal detector is quite honestly the best. Have found a lot of earrings and other jewelry with it. I will be buying the 8 inch coil for more coverage. Fantastic product.

I Love This!
I've been using it on dives and really love finding stuff on the bottom. The only problem is, it hasn't found anything of value for me yet. Maybe one day!

perfect for a back up, when space it tight, or for a friend to join in the fun.
very pleased with this little metal detector. I let my sister use it at a swimming hole while I used my big expensive machine. I found lots of lead while why sister found to knives using the Pulse Dive. It's perfect as a back up, using in tight spots, going on flights to exotic locations, or letting a friend join in on the fun. It has a solid o-ring. Just make sure that you inspect the o-ring and edges for sand / particles when you take the back off to charge.

Bought for fun and semi-serious interest
Wanted a mid-range underwater metal detector. I have only used a few times. I found it does react to my dive equipment, which means you need to hold it out and away from yourself to avoid unnecessary noise. When I did find something, it went off like a barking dog. Additionally, as I used it in dive mode, you need to let it come to surface pressure to take out of dive mode. This can take five minutes. Overall, good buy.

This one is fantastic!!
This one is 100x's better than my large one. It very well built and I was finding underwater treasures almost immediately. I wish I had two of these! The sound is constant and loud. It beeps faster the closer you get to your object, unlike my other full length one. This thing is perfect for under water. Found a cell phone my first time using it.

Not very strong
I tested this thing under water and it's not very strong. Not even on surface. It won't read unless directly over something. For instance I took a quarter and dove down and buried it in the sand. And then took the metal detector over it and it would not read. The only time it would read was when it was on the surface and at that point I don't need a detector just eyes.Totally useless in my opinion.

A must for underwater treasure hunting
After more than a year, a lot of coins, small jewelry, and a lot more beer bottle caps - in springs and shallow water spots, my son is very happy about this little detector.Beware of one point: you can adjust the sensitivity but no selectivity is available - every metal beeps.
