pathetic service
I had purchased a Jack Martin Trolley Speaker for my personal use.The Model was XBS - 15 (15 inch woofer) with in-build battery to make it a portable speaker.This purchase was for my vacation home and so I took delivery from their Authorized dealer at Lamington Road - Rupali Electronics.Once I took the speaker to my vacation home and unboxed it and charged it for 6 - 8 hours, to my dismay, it did not work. Means, it did not even power on leave alone some function of the speaker not working properly. The entire unit sat before me - dead as a dodo.I tried everything I could think of but finally I packed it again and since I could not bring it back with me on the same trip for lack of space in the car, I left it there and decided to visit the dealer and ask for his help.The dealer mentioned above, very rude and curt, informed me that I need to bring the unit back and show him. He refused to discuss or speak further.So a couple of weeks later I went and brought the speaker to the same vendor who opened the unit in his dingy office and to their shock they found that the wires were unconnected inside the unit.The technician connected the same and got it operational and they to his further shock found that the remote was not working.Please appreciate that I am talking about a brand new unit - only charged (supposedly - as actually the wires were not connected in the unit so maybe not even charged a single time) and now I was informed that the remote unit would have to be replaced (never ever having been used even once).Requesting the vendor to consider a free replacement as the unit was absolutely unused, he curtly refused and said that he did not have a spare remote despite his office having multiple units in stock.I asked him to exchange one remote unit from one of the other packed units in his stock and that he could get a replacement from Jack Martin as he was an authorized dealer but he refused in a near insulting tone.He asked me to leave and contact the toll free number - that too he refused to share stating that I should get it from the outer carton of the speaker. Such people are made Authorized dealers - wow.Thereafter I got the number of Jack Martin from the internet and contacted them. After explaining my ordeal to them I thought that they would offer their apologies and take corrective action.How wrong was I!They informed me that they would not entertain me as I had not bought it from them directly (online) but through a dealer (isn't that why a dealer is appointed in the first place ? they are supposed to be an extension of the manufacturer in selling their products) and that I would need to BUY the remote from them if I wished to have a working remote. They did not even offer to have it checked and maybe repair it if it was some loose connection etc.Currently I am thinking about taking this matter up with the Consumer Redressal Forum seeking claims from them for deficiency of services but in the meantime I decided to share my ordeal with all of you so that you stay away from this brand as well as their dealers and not face the hardship that I have faced.Any other brand - maybe even cheap Chinese - but not Jack Martin.Attached - 2 photos which show that the product is absolutely unused and in pristine condition - even the outer carton is in great condition - but I was refused service !Being forced to give a 1 star rating else my review cannot be put up - so actually it is ZERO - please note !
