Original Album Classics

Five star vocalists, five star song lyrics, five star session musicians, five star arranging, five star producing, five star sound engineering and five star recording studios. All of the above ingredients were put together just right to get the listener in the mood for love, raise social consciousness, get up and dance, reflect on familial, interpersonal and community relationships, or simply chill. The "Back Stabbers" and "Ship Ahoy" albums take me on an upward curve of listening enjoyment which plateaus with "Survival", then continues on an upward trend with "Family Reunion" peaking with "Travelin' At The Speed Of Thought". The O'Jays were intense in their vocal interpretations on each track transferring the emotional content of each song to me the listener. These five albums are a good representation of the level of musical excellence offered by Gamble and Huff's P.I.R. label for anyone unfamiliar with "TSOP" (The Sound Of Philadelphia). These reissues of original album releases are packaged in individual sleeves with original album cover art work. For new fans of the O'Jays I highly recommend another five star album available on compact disc: "The O'Jays In Philadelphia" original released in 1969.

When you hear the O'JAYS you know exactly what you're going to get Timeless, Classic SOUL with vocal power and phenomenal orchestration and musical arrangem cd after cd it doesn't change.

These five compact discs all come with pictures and tell the story the way the O'Jays originally told it in the 70's

Having purchased these originally in vinyl when first released, buying this selection of CD's was great to listen to these all over again. It brought back all the memories from many years ago and they were still as good and 'original' as when i first heard them. Ship Ahoy and its fellow tracks are still haunting and memorable. Great value

Great value 5 album collection - The O'Jays are a great band all too often forgotten in the annals of Boy Bands - They were & are still one of the great vocal bands from any era. Great collection.

die wegweisenden alben dieser ausnahmegruppe des "philadelphia-sounds"auf einen streich - super!einen stern ziehe ich ab, denn leider gibt es kein booklet und die details sinddermassen winzig auf der box und auf den covern der einzelnen cd's gedruckt,dass man sie ohne lupe kaum entziffern kann - schade...
