Finally, one that works with VPN! (See updates)
It's been a rare day that I've had a single computer on my desk, and I hate having multiple keyboards and mice. There are some great solutions for this, including some very effective software ones, both open source and commercial. Unfortunately, they all rely on a working network connection directly to the other computer. The problem arises when you have VPN software that disables all other network connections, like my company's corporate VPN. I have also tried another hardware solution, a USB cable like this. Under the covers, it installed and used a network connection, and would not work for my situation. I saw this came out recently and decided to give it a shot. The software installed automatically, and to my delight, my company's VPN stayed connected after it became active.Yes, there's a small lag moving to the other screen, but I can live with that. This is the only product that will work for me, and I'm so happy I finally found it.Update 8/3/12:I've had this for a couple weeks now, and have gotten in some good usage. There are a couple of occasional bugs. One of them is that sometimes the mouse will move to the "client" computer, but the keyboard will stay on the "host". This can usually be fixed by bringing the mouse back and forth once or twice. Nothing major. The other, and this is probably a Windows issue, if you take the mouse to the client computer while it is locked, it will not come back until you unlock it. Again, not really a bug, just a usability issue. Thankfully the Ctrl-Alt-Insert works great to send Ctrl-Alt-Del to the other computer. This is a complex product and amazing for the price, so still an enthusiastic 5 stars in spite of a couple of issues. I have permanently removed the other keyboard and mouse from my desk and am greatly enjoying the increased convenience and reduced clutter.Update 4/9/13:I've now had this product for the better part of a year. I use it the systems where it's attached about 60 hours per week on average, so I consider myself to have extensive experience with it.There are a couple of consistent quirks:- If you have certain applications open or in focus on the "host" computer (where the KB/mouse is attached), the mouse pointer will move to the "client" computer, but keyboard input will not be passed. The ones I've found so far are remote desktop (RDP), anything that is running an installer, and VMWare vSphere client. These are probably OS limitations related to security.- As mentioned above, if either computer is locked, the mouse will get "stuck" there. This is most notably an issue when it gets stuck on the "client". Like mentioned above, you can just unlock it. Easier yet, just hit "Alt-S", which is a hotkey that will always work to switch systems, regardless of what else is happening.A couple more bugs I see from time to time:- Occasionally certain keys will not be accepted by the client computer. I will be able to type, but backspace or delete won't work correctly. Moving the mouse back and forth usually clears it up.- The connectivity will get confused, where you can still switch with Alt-S but the pointer won't flow freely. Unplugging the device form the client computer and re-plugging will usually fix it. If not, unplug both sides and start from scratch.- On rare occasions, the software will crash. Unplugging from one or both sides will clear this up.In spite of the issues, my rating still remains at 5 stars. Being in software development myself and knowing a lot about operating systems, I believe this product does incredibly well at solving a very difficult problem. I still haven't found anything else on the market like it, and it's almost priceless for my day-to-day work.Update 1/16/24:I have had a recurring problem on Windows 7 x64 where the JUC400 will not connect on the "host" computer. I have usually been able to resolve the issue by using Windows System Restore and rolling back, but sometimes there don't appear to be any updates that would cause the issue. I attempted to contact the manufacturer for support but have not received any reply in 3 days. So, I finally have a dock a star. I hope I can get it working again.Update 2/24/2016:I engaged support and they tried in earnest to fix my issue but were unable to. My computer crashed and I updated to Windows 10. It works flawlessly, with none of the issues I had before. Back to 5 stars. I couldn't be happier with this thing.

Great purchase, OK product.
The switch was delivered ahead of schedule. The item itself is a little disappointing in that it took a lot of connecting and disconnecting to eventually get it to work properly. It works but I had to really work to get it to work. There is a compatibilty issue with some video .dll files that had to be worked out and I was able to get it to work but there are still some glitches.I contacted tech support for the switch and all they said was there are some known issues and there's nothing they can do at this time. Again, it did work, but it was not plug and play like they make it sound on their website. I love the idea! I was able to transfer a bunch of files of a variety of types. I just hope they work out the compatibility issue with the Sonic files.THIS IS AN UPDATE: The software glitch seems to have corrected itself. I have used this switch a number of times lately with no problems at all. Suddenly, I love it.By The way, the shipper was excellent. The product arrived faster than expected and was properly packaged and undamaged.

time saver
This product was so easy to use and saved me so much time and money. I could have had the place i bought the computer from transfer the files but i didn't want them to have access to some confidential stuff so i got this device. It was so much easier and faster than trying to copy stuff to a thumb drive and then to the computer. i almost wish i had more computers to move files to so i could use it more.

A Unique, Amazing Tool
If you are frustrated by the limited options of having one keyboard and mouse control multiple machines, this is a must-check-out device. The JUC400 effortlessly allows me to use one Mac or PC, and control two machines simulatenously from it. I can use my PC laptop to control my Mac mini behind it, and effortlessly drag my mouse from one machine to the next. It just works. No need to configure, use complicated server/client setups, none of that. You simply plug the device in to each machine, and a virtual CD appears that automounts and automatically launches the software. It also handles software updates automatically, including updating the device's own firmware. You never need to load a web site to check for drivers or updates with this device, it handles all of that for you.Other features like iPad compatibility, and file transfers that really do work at USB 2.0 speeds, are added bonuses. Even without them, this device is totally worth the money, and totally worth five stars.

If you like your mouse to feel like mud
There are better Mac to Mac, Mac to Windows and Mac to Linux solutions out there. This product seemed like it would be simple and might actually work better than tools I have tried in the past, but on Mac to Mac in particular it does not work well. I can speak for Mac to Windows, but if it is like Mac to Mac over this device then your mouse tracking will be oddly slow and the client will not match the speed of the host. It can be very jarring, even after tweaking settings on the client I cannot get the speed to feel right (also the native trackpad of the client will then feel off as well. All in all I expect more from solutions like these. I would recommend people to use the free donation ware Teleport (and seriously consider donating to this guy!) as it is the only solution I found to work extremely well. Just make sure to use version 1.0.2 even on Mountain Lion. There are weird sync issues with his later releases that have never been resolved. If you want to use windows or Linux then you are probably best with Synergy (Synergy between macs can be buggy).
