Solid Oak Pre (lacquered) & Un Finished 'Ramp' Threshold/Moulding / Door Strip/Door Bar/Cover Strip (Un - Finished) with plastic fixing trim

I have bought this product before from the same listing, I had two that I used downstairs. I really liked the quality and was very pleased, these are more expensive than many other solid oak thresholds, but I thought they were much better.This time they are just like cheaper ones. They are OK, but if I wanted ones like this I'd have saved some money. Unfortunately I need them quickly so I've used them anyway.The photo does not show it very clearly but that is a comparison between an offcut of the original vs the recent ones:The whole profile is a different shape, I liked the fully round of what these should be, not the angular of cheaper ones.The dimensions are different to the ones given on the listing, they are about 4mm shorter total, which could be a problem if you have measured what you need.Thd finish is nowhere near comparable, Thd old ones are completely smooth and a nice finish, these are lacquered but they are rough enough that they need sanding and another layer on.The plastic strip is useless on these ones. Last time it was full length of strip, had pre drilled screw holes and fit in easily. This one is about 15-20cm shorter than the wood, no holes and fits so tightly it's almost impossible to fit on, I'm not going to use it and will just seal them in place.If I had bought these as a cheaper version, which there are plenty available I'd have thought they were fine but they just don't match what was advertised.

On receiving this, all looked great. Nice finish, solid oak. On trying to install things turned bad. Screwed to plastic strip to the floor all good so far. Tried to get the wooden strip to fit into the plastic strip, not a chance. It is so tight that the wood splinters away on either side. But could still not get it to go in. Ended up damaging the wood in the end trying for 30 minutes to get the thing in. In the end, gave up. Will save the stress and look for a better solution...

Very hard to fit into the plastic track and it’s broken while trying to get it in. Not good. At last nailed it in.

Great product, well packaged - solid oak and easy to fix.

Solid wood. Easy to fit, and stays put.

Made well and looks great down, even matched my new laminate floor which finished it off a treat.
