Tidy prefer of kit
Works as advertised, easy install.Just switch off smart connect. I had terrible trouble with it dropping my devices and being unable to reconnect. Seems it's a known issue.Once that was switched off, smooth surfing.Wifi6 is great too.I'd recommend 100%

The Netgear RAX40 - Not even one star is deserved.
Bought this Netgear AX4 RAX40 to replace a Netgear R7000 router that I had for many years and worked pretty well but I wanted better wifi speeds and coverage in my house.I decided on this new Netgear RAX40 after reading some positive reviews. Without exaggeration, it is by far the worst consumer electronics device I have ever purchased. I sent it back to Amazon and I have ordered the Asus AC88USo what’s wrong with it? Firstly, there is no user manual as such, just a quick start guide urging you to download their app. A small booklet entitled ‘safe battery handling and storage’ (there is no battery)! A compliance slip dated January 2019, and a slip stating ‘update the firmware’ - which is strange because you don’t have any control over firmware updates.Regarding the Netgear app, I have no mobile data coverage so I was forced to login using a web browser. There are no instructions on how to login to the router using a web browser to setup but 192.168.1.1 worked.Using the Netgear browser interface / GUI on Safari to setup is beyond tedious. For a start, the Router takes a good five minutes to fully boot up. Then, after registering, it takes you to their webpage. So back to the IP login agin. Clicking “next” after changing the settings for internet and you wait literally 2 minutes for this router to update. Beyond slow for a modern piece of technology. You can’t move on and do it quickly by setting other parameters all at once as each step has to be done independently. The GUI is totally unresponsive, at first, before you realise you keep clicking the next button until it becomes clear that there is a major issue with the firmware. Finally, I set up internet, which for me is fibre optic through BT using the Openreach modem. So far so good? Well, no, as I will explain later.Back on the browser and logged into the wifi settings I need to change the wireless settings. Click update and wait 3 minutes (not kidding). Then the page comes back up and no settings are changed!!!. Try agin… success? Well, no.Suddenly you have no internet, ISP login settings all good but no internet. The only solution is a factory reset using a pin but not before changing the ethernet cable and rebooting the fibre optic modem (because naively I thought the modem was the problem) . Yet it still didn’t work first time, or the second time. Try again, success. When I say ‘try again’ I’m talking about a factory reset wasting more precious time! I mean, it’s unbelievable that the factory reset doesn’t even work properly.Start again, oh this time it decided to work… setting everything up again (wifi, passwords etc.) -and another 20 minutes wasted. But now, now I can download and install the Netgear app, great I though?. Oh, no… when, and not if, the app boots you off, restarting the app brings up the original settings of factory SSID and password so you can’t login again…truly unbelievable. Anyway, I have internet right? Not surprisingly, no,. No Internet. After trying all evening I got it working….., really? Well, no. Half of the smart switches would not connect (they’re all the same make). One last try I thought, factory reset the router thinking I’d missed something and after setting it all up agin it worked for about 10 minutes. then no internet again. After midnight I gave up designating it a totally frustrating and useless piece of junk and definitely not fit for purpose. So maybe that is harsh, maybe I bought a lemon, but Netgear should really be testing their kit before it leaves the factory. The great thing about Amazon is that returns are easy and I ordered the more expensive Asus.I hope this review will help people. I’m not the only one experiencing these issues with this Netgear model. The ‘mainstream’ reviews on the internet that I have read about this router are very good but I have come to not put too much faith in ‘professional’ reviews any more.

Excellent Product
I'd used Netgear routers in the past, normally as an upgrade from the standard router provided by my ISP. I recently upgraded to a NETGEAR Nighthawk AX4/4-Stream AX3000 WiFi Router. With more and more devices on my network, my old router was becoming sluggish. Being based in countryside as well we do have Fibre but at times it can be slow. The new NETGEAR Nighthawk AX4/4-Stream AX3000 WiFi Router has been amazing. Constant network speeds even with multiple devices connected. We've also added a NAS as part of our business and the new router just handles everrything without any issues. Was simple to set-up and having the mobile app makes it's really simple to keep an eye on devices connected to the network and keep an eye on the status of the network. Fantastic router at a very resonable price. Works well with our Apple Mac network of computers and devices and alos our internet connected TV's. Great product and well worth investigating if you're looking to get the most from your home network.

No better than the standard O2 modem/router if just using a few devices
I was hoping this highly specified router would improve my daughter's WiFi beyond the bog-standard O2 modem router. Sadly it didn't.The set-up was very hit and miss - the quick start guide doesn't tell you what to do beyond downloading the app and that wasn't any help in initial set-up. I just muddled through. Please note this is just a router - you still need a modem or a modem router.I tested speed with speedtest.net and WiFi with two WiFi analyzer apps and there was no difference in performance in the same room, or through one, two or three brick walls on the 2.4 GHz band. Her devices don't do 5 GHz.On re-reading the product claims, I realise the performance advantages might become more apparent in a house with many more devices in concurrent use. That's not her circumstances so it's of no benefit.

Good Wifi 6 Performance and Range
Wifi works well and was easy to setup up. Minor tweaking to ensure 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ was running on the best channels based on neighbor signals.Performance is great and no issues so far!
