Review Update - An Excellant Shaver Light.
PLEASE IGNORE MY FIRST REVUE.What a NUMPTY. There I was spouting off that the shaver light I received did not work, nor did the replacement. Life's golden rule - If all else fails - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. It clearly states if the diffuser is not fitted the lamp will not work. I refitted the unit to the wall, fitted the diffuser and guess what - it works perfectly. (As does the replacment). This LED Shaver Light looks great and the low 6 watt power usage is fantastic. The lamp brightness is just right. My applogies to Knightsbridge for saying their product did not work.First Review: This Knightsbridge LED Shaver Light with Dual Voltage Socket really looks the business. Its a shame the one delivered did not work. I ordered a replacement and that one also does not work. But I left this one connected overnight and in the morning the transformer to the left of the unit was warm. This proves the switch works. I tested for power to the tube terminals and no power shows? At the moment I am unable to request another replacement. I will submit another review for the first replacement if I manage to get a second replacement.

Half the price of screwfix & better quality
This was bought for a job at work. After looking for one to collect locally & seeing the price, accompanied by bad reviews, I chose this, as it was great value for money. It was a doddle to fit, as this was bought to replace a faulty one. The cover is part of the wiring, so needs to be fitted for the light to work.My only complaint is this cover. The lugs which locate to the two switching ports were fine. The other 2 were broken off. I'm not sure why this is. They weren't in the box, so I assume they do this in the manufacturing process. A bit weird but it works great & the client can now have a shave, whilst fully illuminated.

Light pull switch jammed - but later replaced by manufacturer at no cost
Seemed an excellent product until yesterday, when the light pull switch jammed, and I am unable to unjam it. The product has been installed and in constant use for 18 months; but I would have expected a somewhat longer lifetime from a product from a quality manufacturer.I can now update this post. I spoke to the manufacturer, Knightsbridge, who immediately offered to send a replacement switch at no cost. It arrived the next day, I fitted it, and the light now works perfectly once more. Excellent customer service, Knightsbridge!

Unit was defective and internally damaged
My previous review was rejected by Amazon. I had included a video of the defects (of which there were many) and i may have used a naughty word or two while describing my impressions of the workmanship and quality. And we all know naughty words are bad.So I'll be as polite as possible here, lets see what happens. I'm taking the trouble to redo this as I think its important that the info is available to help people make an educated purchasing decision. When I opened the back of the unit as per instructions to take the back plate off I noticed a number of defects.#1: Three of the four mounting screws on the power supply transformer were not inserted fully. When i tried to tighten them myself there was no retention , they were fully stripped. That is a factual statement. I will make no comment as to where I think the defect originated. At least one of the screws was was affixing the earth wire to the transformer. Factual statement. I wont make any claims as to electrical safety impact as I suspect that may be another reason why my last review was rejected.#2: The switch connected to the pull string was visibly significantly damaged. There was a large piece missing. Again, a factual statement.#3: The switch for the pull string was loose and not affixed internally. When pulling the string , it did not actuate the switch. Therefore it is safe to say the switch could not have actually worked. There were bare live terminals exposed in the switch which were in very close proximity to internal metal work. The switch moved around internally as the string was pulled. This is a factual statement.Again, i make no comment on potential electrical safety issues where live terminals may come into contact with internal metalwork, AND the earthing cable on the PSU is not fully attached. To be fair, when i did the refund process I immediately got a refund without needing to send the unit back.

Installation is awkward. Looks good after it has been fitted
Bright light and pleasing appearance when fitted. However, design from an installation viewpoint is poor and will take longer than would normally be allowed for. The electrical connector block is only accessible from the rear once the back plate has been removed. The connector block is too small to accommodate two wires if installation is on a ring and will have to be replaced. The connector block does not have terminals for earth wires. The cutout in the back plate is far too small and will have to be enlarged. Wiring from the back means that this has to be completed (and the back plate reinstalled) before the unit is mounted, which makes installation awkward and requires accommodation to be made for the surplus cable length that is needed in order to make a connection. Better designs allow access to electrical connections from the front, after the unit has been mounted.

Well worth 5 stars in every respect
After reading some negative reviews I hesitated, but I couldn't find any others in this price range so went ahead. I'm so glad I did, it's an excellent light fitting. I had no one to help me so I had to plan and measure and have everything within reach. Including drilling, having torches in the right place (the mains had to be off), it took me about 45 minutes to complete. The light is very bright and a bit whiter than I would have wished, but all in all I am delighted with it and more than happy to award 5 stars.
