Just changed my review to no stars!
Update 12/15 UPDATEWell this worked for a couple of months (and I don't open very many cans each month) and then it it completely stopped working on any kind of can at all— it goes around but it doesn't cut. It doesn't even score the way some people said it did. It's a very expensive piece of trash right now and I'm really disgusted with myself for having bought it. Hand arthritis was the motivation but this cost too much to order again._____This works great but it is pretty slow. On the other hand, I can do other tasks while waiting for my can to open, so that's a plus. I wish there were some kind of signal it would give when it has gone the full 360°, but I have to make a mental note of where I started it so I will know when it is done.

This is like heaven! It has clear directions
Aaaaaahhhhh. WHAT a difference!I had been using the manual, squeeze-so-hard-your-hands-hurt can openers that would STILL leave little thin strips of unopened can to deal with! This is like heaven! It has clear directions, telling you to place the little nubbin on the outside of the can rim.You place it, push the button and give it a few seconds (about 10) to do it's thing. I love that, in the meantime, I can keep stirring or cooking, or whatever. You'll hear when it's done, because you hear the little can opener motor suddenly not working so hard. You hit the button on the top of the opener again, and it backs the opener off, and you lift it up.I like that it's enclosed plastic, since I'm often doing dishes and cooking and have wet hands, so I don't worry about it hurting the opener. You just basically pull off the top, ridged part of the can. There are no sharp edges, and no part of the can left un-opened. The manual kind would often leave those, and then I'd be digging around for a knife to pry 'em open. Not this one! It's open, and it's done.It works on dented cans, too. I had one that I'd dropped and the top wasn't round, no problem. It's kind of cucumber-sized, so you can pop it into the drawer, where it easily fits into a regular drawer organizer slot.I'm going to add a photo so you can see the size compared to other odd-sized items in the drawer.I am thrilled to have something that works this well, without taking up my limited counter space.I've only had it since the first part of December, 2014, and I use it a couple of times a week, so I can't give a knowledgeable review about heavy duty use, but it feels very sturdy and well-made, and I expect it would hold up great.I would definitely recommend this product, and I may buy more for friends. My thoughts are that it'd be an affordable gift that wouldn't end up collecting dust in the attic.I hope this review helps you.

Works great until it quit!
worked great until it quit 5 months later. I did use about three cans a week but then after 5 months it wouldn't open a chicken can which was in good condition and now I can't get it to grab on to a can. Runs but seems to be stuck in closed position so useless. I've written to seller today so will see. Great when it worked but really expensive if it only last through such limited use.

A welcome helper for the arthrtis pain you have
some different # 10 cans seems like it works intermediately. I do however feel it works to my satisfaction with other can sizes. I however like it for the fact I did purchase it for, I have arthritis and this is a good remedy for the problem. It leaves your edges completely smooth!!

Kudos to KitchenPalz
This opener was intended to replace a larger Hamilton Beach opener that just stopped working after two years of service. I owned a "one touch" opener years ago and loved it. But, based on the reviews I read here, I decided to purchase this one instead. It worked perfectly the first time I used it. I thought I made a good purchase. However, round two was a different story. The opener audibly protested from the start. It reluctantly "screeched" through the couple of cans I needed to open that evening. The following night (round three) was a different story. It again, "screeched" through the first can....opened. Can two? All I got from it was the irritating "screeching" sound and an unopened can. So, based on my experience, I would have to advise that you strongly reconsider buying this opener. Spend your money elsewhere.-This is an update to my previous review above... Shortly after I submitted it, I was contacted by KitchenPalz. They asked if I would consider trying a new opener as the one I received originally may have been defective. I agreed and they promptly sent me a replacement. The replacement opener they sent has worked fine so far. Kudos to KitchenPalz for standing behind their product and their concern for customer satisfaction.

not dependable
worked good for a short while. Used it maybe six times and then it quit working. Changed batteries (wasn't the problem) as seller instructed. No other advice was given on how to make it work. Won't open cans anymore. Evidently, it can't be fixed as the seller doesn't answer back. See they have quit selling them so they must have had a lot of problems with this type of opener. Out my money--won't buy again

There has to be a better way of doing this
I have used a conventional can opener for MANY years, and thought it was time I progressed somewhat. I kept thinking about all the germs on that little wheel that was hard to clean and thought...There has to be a better way of doing this! After reading the reviews on this, I thought I'd give it a try. Once I figured out that you need to attach this opener at an angle, I was so giddy with excitement that I had to open another can...and another, and another. Dang, then I had to cook something...oh well. The batteries are supposed to last through 1000 cans, so that SHOULD be a long time. The cut is clean and does not seem sharp like with a conventional opener, and it fits right into my kitchen utensil drawer! Clean smooth can opening, just what I wanted.
