Practicing His Presence (The Library of Spiritual Classics, Volume 1)

I bought this book in 2020 and I read it, highlighting all sorts of sections in the book. But It was not until 2022 when I took a more deliberate, consistent journey to get closer to the Lord that I realized just how overwhelming all that can be! It was frustrating to NOT be able to spend ALL my time with Him! As I looked for a book to essentially help me go even deeper, I came across this book again, having totally forgotten I had it. I flew through it the second time, highlighting and punctuating even more, because I found myself agreeing with so many things because I now had my own experiences to go along with what I read. I loved, loved, loved that. If you are looking to deepen your relationship with the Lord, this is a huge help and I figured that out after having read it one already! Now I like to spin back through just to look at my highlights and notes in hopes of sharing with others should an opportunity arise.

For those seeking a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ this timeless book is a must read. It’s not the casual person who is not ready to seek the Father and surrender, living completely a abandoned to Christ. This is not a one and done it is a process and this book is a great place to start. Not based on denomination but relationship with our savior and Lord Jesus.

I’m reading this book again for the second time it is so powerful. It offers a great combination of ideas from two individuals who really caught the secret of walking closely with Christ versus just on Sunday or after your quiet time. They offer very helpful ideas around increasing your intimacy and the closeness throughout every hour and every day with Christ

Bro. Lawrence's book is tough to take, because it challenges my complacence and has made me more diligent in my long-failed effort to follow Jesus' instructions that the Greatest Commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart....' (said otherwise, to Love God more than I love myself) The book gives some hints about not letting a moment in the day pass without recognizing Whom I'm serving, viz., God, Himself. The apostle Paul told us to "...pray without ceasing...." Easy for him to say, but a tough discipline to embrace with all the zeal that Jesus instructed us to get going. I'm still working on the details, but I've still a long way to go to make it happen as well as Bro. Lawrence. Jesus gave us an even better example of how that works, and I'm thinking that the question that led to the revelation of the "Lord's Prayer" at Luk 11:1, et seq., was aimed more directly at how the disciples might have the moment-by-moment relationship with the Father that the Master showed every moment in His walk on the face of Spaceship Earth.

Wonderful and encouraging. I enjoyed reading the book. Simple but profound ideas that are relevant to anyone seeking to grow in intimacy with God

I am always hesitant to read anything other than the KJV Bible for spiritual guidance, but this book has helped me tremendously in my prayers and co start focus on God. It should be read slowly, just as you were reading the Word. It’s a book that can be reread several times and each time more will appear to you than the time before. I highly recommend this book for anyone wishing to become closer to the Lord through prayer. The Gospel of our salvation 1 Corinthians 15:3&4. Verse 2 tells you THAT is was savED you.

Journaling is a huge and important part of my morning routine. It allows me to set intentions and start my day with purpose. Otherwise we are life driftwood. This companion to my routine lifts my spirit and helps me stay focused and k is who I am in Christ.

Maybe ya gotta be me to fall in love with this little book, but I doubt that. If followed closely, we'd all be saints. It's not just Brother Lawrence, though of course he's here, but Frank Laubach who writes so personally you really get a feel how to do this kind of prayer and come to know God much more closely than ever before. My highest recommendation.I even sent a copy to a friend who is a world wanderer - had to ship it to his mother at the other end of the world since he pops in on her occasionally.

I found this book so encouraging and helpful; encouraging because praticing God's presence daily is just that, a practice needing to be learned; helpful because it gives guidelines to help should anyone wish to pursue this way of life.Finding another who wants to practice God's presence and who would be willing to read this book at the same time would be a help and encouragement. Being able to talk through the learning process would be such an aid on the journey.

Brilliant book.I really understood where Brother Lawrence was coming from and the book spoke volumes to me personally.. Worhth reading.
